Saying
goodbye is a tough thing to do but trust us you would love to say goodbye to
the dry skin
syndrome. Winters get harsh on the body in a lot more ways than we
can imagine and the only way out seems is to become extra protective.
The skin
tends to lose its natural moisture when it comes in contact with the dull and
dry atmosphere. So, what to do? Well, let’s share the mantra of how to keep a
healthy skin during winters:
- Moisturize more
This is
one and only way to keep the extra dryness away. It may require two to three
times a day care, but go for it. Buy that extra large bottle of body moisturizer
so that your stock lasts the season. Use of natural moisturizers like milk
cream is a healthy way to do it.
- Scrub often
We often
forget to do this, but it is crucial to do away with the dead cells that keep
layering on. One should exfoliate once a week with steam, a scrubber and an
exfoliating cream. This would help the skin rejuvenate and breathe fresh again.
- Not too hot
It is
known how much you love the geyser’s hot water but do not go for way too hot.
It takes away the natural skin moistures. Use of water at lukewarm temperature
is best for bathing purposes.
- Avoid soap
Most of
the available soaps in the market just leave the skin dry. It is better to go
for a shower gel or even rub off some coconut oil before the bath. This would
let the skin have the necessary oils.
- Lip care
One should
always take good care of the lips in winters as they are prone to dryness often.
The remedy for chapped lips is to keep some moisturizing cream handy or if you
are at home then, rub on a little portion of fresh milk cream.
- Face on
The face
cannot be forgotten and this would need special attention. For men, who are allergic to substances like aloe vera, you should
go for glycerine based cream. One can also use plain glycerine mixed with lime
juice, which can be washed off.
- Oil it
Well, we
know you cannot go fishing for this one, but here’s what you can do. Go to the
nearest chemist and look for cod liver oil capsules. These are known as
immunity boosters and help revive skin moisture.
It is all
that you need to brace your skin against the cruel winter winds. Once you are
on the track with the above mentioned precautions, the winter may shy away from
touching you at all. That’s a promise.
